Vendor Spotlight - Peerless Photography
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We love Fridays and we looooove love so needless to say today is the best day ever! (have we said the word "love" enough yet?) Well we're going to say it again, because we also love showcasing the fabulous wedding professionals that we've worked with and today we've got a good one! Nathan Morgan now of Peerless Photography is a fabulous local photographer. We got to work with him on our Food Truck Event at the McConnell House and he was so much fun to work with! Nathan has such a cool style and his love of people and emotion shines through in each photo he takes.
Nathan recently took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions for us. Read on to learn more and to see some of his amazing work. Oh and check out the end of this post for a great Valentine's Day special!
How did you get into photography?
My parents encouraged me by generously allowing me to develop film from trips and vacations we'd go on. In high school I started using the dark room and loved shooting landscapes until I photographed a school play. Even though they were acting, I made some photos that showed emotion and that ignited a much deeper interest.
Entering college I planned to study social work and possibly minor in photography until I realized that there is a whole social work aspect to photojournalism.
I'm very blessed and thankful to be a photographer. I've connected with amazing people and love that photography has the potential to share hope and encourage community.
What do you love most about photographing weddings?
Two things: For most people it's the best day of their lives, one that symbolizes hope being realized and love fulfilled. Who wouldn't want to be there to photograph all of those emotions? I also really love being a witness to two families coming together and celebrating.
What would you say is your photography style?
Moments rise to the top for me when it comes to my style. I graduated with a B.A. in Photojournalism from Western Kentucky University and have worked most of my professional career with editorial publications. The focus has always been on capturing candid moments of emotion to tell a story with photography. After a stint as staff photographer, I continued to refine my portraiture working under several photographers in L.A. Today, in addition to wedding photography, I shoot corporate portraits for a local business publication, the Nashville Business Journal, and take on freelance assignments for the New York Times as time allows. Do you shoot digital or film?

Tell us why brides should choose you to capture their wedding day.
I continue to be amazed at the number of really talented wedding photographers in Nashville. The decision should be based on more than just talent. On a personal level, one of things I think that can be easily overlooked is finding a photographer that you get along with and enjoy. I'm with brides almost the entire day of the weddings so it's important to me that brides feel like they can trust me and know that I genuinely care about making sure their day goes well.
On a more practical side, I've recently entered into a relationship with Peerless Weddings, a company that shares my values and a standard of excellence. For brides that are interested in a wedding videographer, we offer a substantial discount when a photography and film package are booked together.
A few personal questions:
Mac or PC? Definitely a Mac fan. I worked with Apple while I was in LA and it only grew my respect for their company and brand.
Tea or Coffee? Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon with milk and sugar.
Favorite Nashville Restaurant? Tough question since Nashville has so many great locations these days. Four I really enjoy are City House, Kitchen 404 and as a Nashville native I'm a fan of Hattie B's and 400 Degrees.
Favorite Film Right Now? As a new father and creative storyteller, Saving Mr. Banks struck a chord. Also as a new father, I've not seen too many movies this year.
