Vendor Spotlight - Amber Housley Design
We are so excited today to feature one of our own! Amber Housley, owner of Amber Housley Design, is a top notch designer in the Nashville area, specializing in invitation design, beautifully detailed paper goods and adding "pretty" to all kinds of celebrations. And just this year she has officially added wedding planning to her repertoire of services as well. Amber and her team are immensely talented and we couldn't be happier to have such a creative company as part of the Nashville Wedding Planner's Group! We recently caught up with Amber and had her answer a few questions for us!
How did you get started in the design / invitation business?
You could say the roots of my invitation business started in college when a sorority sister and I would sell handmade cards for sisterhood events. Post-college I started a career in marketing and branding and those day-job design and business skills eventually led to me opening up my own online shop on eBay in 2003. Fast-forward to 2007 when I was married here in Nashville and did the design and "branding" of our entire wedding. Since then we've had the opportunity to work with countless brides create fabulous detail-rich weddings.
How would you describe your style?
I am in love with bold color and vibrant patterns, and translate that style from my personal style into the style of my stationery designs.
What trends are you seeing right now with invitation design?
There are so many beautiful trends right now in invitation design. One of my favorite trends is unique colors of foil printing, including rose gold, gold, silver, and black. Hand lettering and hand painted illustrations are also trends that I continuously love to see featured on invitations. Radiant Orchid is the 2014 Pantone color of the year, so I am really excited to see how that color is carried through into the invitation design world.
What is the most important thing you want brides to know about Amber Housley Design?
I truly want brides to know that when they work with Amber Housley Design, they will have a design that is completely custom to who she and her fiancé are as a couple. I strive to translate my clients' unique love story come to life through the details of their design, from the colors to the wording to the way in which their paper goods are presented and sent to their friends and family.
