How did you get started in creating wedding stationery?
It started by helping out a friend who was an event planner and needed some paper goods designed. Then it just blossomed from there. I always enjoyed doing invitations for big events from my days in the ad agency world so it was a natural progression for me.
What are some misconceptions about custom wedding stationery?
It doesn't have to be as formal as it was 20 years ago. Today's wedding are being more about the couple and their lifestyle versus a huge over the top event. If you want to go that way, awesome!!! But that isn't for everyone. I like seeing the couple take their likes, lifestyle and personality in an invitation.
Explain the process of creating custom wedding stationery with a bride
First I like meeting the bride and her fiancé. If the wedding planner is there thats even better. The more input I can get about the vision, the better of an idea I can create for the wedding. I encourage a Pinterest board for me to view to really see what she likes in terms of colors, flowers, venues and more.
I have a questionnaire I fill out that helps me narrow things down such as quantity, budget, and other items needed for the invitation. Then I create 3-4 designs with a matching reply card and envelope system. This also includes other extras if they would like to add them such as belly bands, enclosures or wax seals. Pricing is included with each design to help them narrow things down. Then its to the production phase which can take 1-2 weeks depending on design and hand time.
What other products do you offer?
Rubber stamps • Fans • Water bottle labels • stickers • Notecards • Serving Trays • Holiday Cards and all paper goods you can imagine.
