Vendor Spotlight- SOUL Flowers

Happy Tuesday! Today we are featuring Jessica the owner of SOUL Flowers. We had the pleasure of working with Jessica at our April Group Meeting and she created some fabulous arrangements for us. Read what Jessica told us about SOUL Flowers and what makes it great! How did you get into floral design?

When I was 16 I started at the coolest little shop in my home town. I was the delivery girl, shop girl and was fortunate enough to be taught every bit of the business by my amazingly talented boss and coworkers! I still assist my original boss on many events. In 2009 we had the honor of decorating the White House for the holidays! What a priceless experience that was!

Explain your process of working with a bride...

I always set up an in person meeting ASAP! I will either meet the bride somewhere or I invite them to come see my shop and workspace. The shop gives them an immediate impression of who I am and how I see design! It is so important to me that we vibe from the get go. I want to make them feel as comfortable as possible and let them know that I treat every wedding individually. I get just as excited about each of my weddings as if they are the first one I've done! I can usually tell in the first 5 to 10 minutes if we are going to be a match. I am very open and honest about how I work. After the initial meeting, I will put together an email, with a summary of our meeting and a few pictures to give a taste of the vision we are trying to create. Assuming we are on the same page budget and style wise, and decide to move forward, we sign a contract and I ask for a deposit. I encourage my brides to keep great communication with me. I want them to know that they can never send me too many emails, texts, or call me too much! It is key that they know how important their wedding is to me. The better relationship we have, will absolutely be reflected in the end result!

What is your favorite flower?

That's like asking a mother who her favorite child is!

What makes you different from other florists?

I am more then just a florist, I have lots of experience in a few areas of design. I have been lucky to live in a range of places as well, so I have been influenced by so many tastes and styles! I had a landscape design business in San Diego and studied Interior design in Chicago. I like to think I am fun to work with too! I take every one of my weddings very personally and want my brides to really enjoy the whole process with me.

What’s one thing you love to hear in a consultation with a bride?

That they trust me. That they feel like, I get it and understand what they want. That they feel like they can relax and leave it to me!
