How did you get into photography?
My dad is a photographer, so I have always been surrounded by cameras. When I had my first child, I decided to really learn how to really work a camera. It then evolved to taking pictures for other families, eventually charging for them and second shooting weddings around town. I fell in love with photographing weddings and decided that this is what I was meant to do. So I attended several workshops, was mentored by Julie Paisley, and honed in my specific style and went into weddings full time!
What do you love about photography?
My favorite part of photography is giving the gift of time. I am invited to share in a couple's most intimate and important day of their lives and document it in a way to show their love story. I take tremendous pride in my task and love that I am able to give them something that they will be able to look back on and cherish for the rest of their lives.
What would you say is your photography style?
My photography style is a blend of posed portraiture and photojournalism. I love documtening the story of the couple on their wedding day and strive to capture all of the great details that unfold. When it comes time for portraits, I place the couple in a flattering pose with beautiful light and gorgeous scenery. From there I let things natural happen as well as a little directing to get some key shots! I love for my photographs to look real, romantic and dreamy!
Do you shoot digital or film?
Hybrid- Film and Digital
Tell us why brides should choose you to capture their wedding day.
I want brides to first choose me because they feel something when they look at my work. I feel like that is such an important part of the process! I then want to connect and have a great relationship with my couples. That connection is what gives way to real and authentic images. It allows them to feel comfortable around me with a giant camera in their face, but they don't mind because they know and trust that I will capture who they really are as a couple!
