Third Annual Design Challenge | Seasons

We are so excited to share all the details from our third annual design challenge! The Wilburn Street Studio hosted the event and the theme was “Seasons.” Our planners worked together to create unique designs to represent each of the four seasons and chose their own vendor team to bring it to life. Bella Bridesmaids joined us this year to add another element to the challenge. Each team chose a bridesmaid dress from Bella’s collection to go along with their table.

Many wedding industry friends attended to view each design and vote on their favorite. There was also a social media winner!

Check out all the pictures below and see who won for each category.

A BIG thank you to all our event sponsors! We couldn’t have done it without you!

WINTER

Winner of “Best Pairing of Dress to Tablescape”

Our inspiration was steering away from “Christmas” and going more towards snow and a winter white palette. We loved the nordic ice vibe and wanted to incorporate branches into our design as well to really emphasize the winter scenery. We were immediately drawn to the mirror table and loved the idea of the candles reflecting off of it in the same way the sun reflects on snow. Once we had the table and general direction of the table, place settings were easy to lock in. Keeping with the clear glass theme completed the look with its subtle nod to an icy winter wonderland.

SPRING

Winner of “Most Likely to Be Used in a Real Wedding”

We were very inspired by the colors, textures and scents of the spring season. Our inspiration was a palette that included lilac, soft yellow, and cream. We associate spring with a wildflower field and butterflies so we incorporated butterflies into the arrangements as well as the menu pieces. The pattern on the linen lent itself to the bright awakening of spring.  We wanted something different for the place card so incorporated a mini cake at each place setting with the guests name piped onto the cake.

SUMMER

Winner of “Most Creative”

Team Summer was inspired by this tropical linen from BBJ La Tavola. We started thinking about a beautiful private dinner at a beachside resort and let our design transform with this prompt in mind. We brought in a natural texture by using the rattan chargers and rugs emulating a sandy beach. We chose to incorporate black chairs and china to lean a little more modern overall. Marc from Fiorella completely understood the assignment by using fresh fruits to awaken all senses and transport guests to a paradise. The addition of floating parasols provided a whimsical aspect reminding everyone that in Summer, anything is possible! Thank you to all our talented vendors that made this design possible!

FALL

Winner of “Best Representation of Season”, “Best Stationery”, “Best Florals”, Best Overall” & “Social Media Winner”!

When our team thinks of Fall we think about “cozy feels, moody tones, earthy details” which is why we went with a mushroom theme Tablescape.  We picked a very textured mushroom-like linen as our base and built on from there with real moss and big moody florals with dried branches. Stationery was an important part of our design as it added another opportunity to showcase the mushroom theme. The final cozy details were added by placing warm plaid blankets on the chairs and hiding a few wooden mushrooms along the center of the table.
