On planning a successful wedding: “Be yourself… don’t worry about other opinions. The most memorable weddings are less about the ‘wow’ factor of the décor and more about really getting a feel for the couple’s personality.”
One thing I wish all brides knew: “Everything is negotiable. You will find that out once you hire a great planner!”

Vendor Spotlight: Music City Tents and Rentals

Today we are featuring the amazing Music City Tents and Events! Music City is a wonderful rental company in town and they have graciously helped with many of our monthly meetings – they are rock stars!!

When we interviewed the owner JT Terrell, here’s what he had to say about the business:

What made you go into the business? I was a wayward musician until my partner and I went into business in January 2002 and 10 years later we are having a blast as the “go-to” event provider in Music City, USA! “Partying is our Business!”

What different ways can brides use your products/services? Either by coming in to work with us as a retail client or by way of an event planner, we can provide everything they would need to get married out in an open space. Floor, carpet, tent, heat or A/C, all ballroom chairs, tables etc. and specialty tableware/linen, plus catering gear and even a restroom trailer! We like to say ” from the flooring to the flutes” we have it all!

Rustic Outdoor Nashville Wedding

I love that our Monday’s start with weddings! This real Nashville wedding is from Elaine Roberts with Events by Elaine. This beautiful outdoor fall wedding was a gathering of friends and family to celebrate this couple and their love for each other. The bridal party stayed overnight in the cabin the evening before the wedding for a fun night full of laughter.

The bride wanted the event to be fresh and natural, much like the venue, which consisted of an old log cabin, barn and tents set up for the event.  The venue was surrounded by woods, fields and a creek all creating the secluded and natural feel the bride wanted.

Many of the vendors were friends or co-workers of the bride.  The ceremony musicians brought guitars and drums and played hymns.

The florist decorated the outdoor space using flowers she brought with her as well as florals and stems from a nearby field.

The boutonnieres were succulents or wild stems and berries… good does the boutonniere look with that gorgeous tie??

The cake was decorated with roses, succulents, rosemary and and other herbs from the bride.

This wedding was filled with simple and beautiful details, allowing for this sweet couple and the way they feel for each other to take center stage.

What a gorgeous wedding!

Weekly Wedding Roundup

It’s Friday once again! It’s hard to believe we have officially finished our second week of the Nashville Wedding Planners Group blog! Here’s a little recap of what we saw this week:

We started off the week featuring our first Real Wedding! Planned by Premiere WED, this stunning black and red affair set the bar high for our real wedding submissions! Our favorite part was the one request made by the bride: Tons of Bling! Special Thanks to Waldorf Photographic Art for the amazing pictures!

Next we learned all about custom floral design from Amanda Jerkins Design. Amanda discussed her favorite flowers, what a bride should expect from a consultation, and what makes her company unique!

Our Planner tip this week came from Mary Alice Sublett of A Delightful Day!

“Don’t stress over the small details! Your guests are going to remember that they had a great time dancing the night away, your wedding was a reflection of the two of you, and they had great food and beverage! Details are always fun, but don’t drive yourself insane over making sure that you have every single detail that all of the blogs and magazines tell you you need!”

Lastly, we learn all about custom stationary design form Daiva Grubb, owner of Design in August.

Vendor Spotlight: Design in August

Happy Thursday everyone! Today we will be featuring Daiva Grubb, Owner and Principle Designer for Design in August. Daiva was also the designer of our fabulous logo!

So, what is there to learn about wedding stationery?

Tell us about your company?

Design in August is a boutique graphic design studio focused on branding and stationery design. Our branding projects include logo design, brochures and other collateral pieces, brand management and consultation for businesses. In the events world that translates to a professional level of graphic design brought to fine papers for personal use.

How did you get started in creating wedding stationery?

Design in August began taking on event stationery clients out of a love for fonts and fine papers. I have always enjoyed typography (the study of fonts) and design with letterforms. I love finding unique pairings of unusual fonts that relate to each other. Pair that with an appreciation for fine papers and you have stationery design!
What are some misconceptions about wedding stationery?
A common misconception, or perhaps oversight, regarding custom wedding stationery would be that “it’s just not worth the cost.” I suppose the creative process that goes into commissioned work is not for everyone, but sometimes I think it’s easy to forget that an invitation sets the tone for your event. If you are going to invest a great deal of your budget into creating a truly unique atmosphere for your guests – everything from elegant and formal ballroom weddings to intimate and quirky backyard functions – then I think you miss the boat if you do not take the opportunity to set the stage. The first impression you give your guest list is a printed invitation – even a save the date card. If you recognize the opportunity for what it is, then a one-of-a-kind event invitation will be more valuable to you.
Explain the process of creating custom wedding stationery with a bride.
The process of working with brides is very much like any creative process. I chat with clients to get a feeling for their event – the style, the colors, anything unique about their story as a couple – and from that I begin designing. I present design concepts via PDF and after several rounds of design edits we arrive to a final design!
What other products do you offer?
There’s more than invitations coming out of our studio! We offer a full range of paper products for your event needs, including save the dates, event programs, thank you notes and personalized stationery sets. Pretty much any kind of paper ephemera you can dream of! Even cocktail stir sticks to dress up your signature cocktail. To finish off the look of any mailing, we also offer envelope liners, custom rubber stamps and embossers. And, of course, we offer graphic design services for whatever your needs may be.
