Planner Tip from Simply Yours Weddings

This week’s Planner Tip comes from one of our favorite gals and our Planner of the Week, Emily Humphries with Simply Yours Weddings:

It might not be an easy thing to think about while you’re overwhelmed with planning details but I think its probably the most important thing I have to remind my Brides of: take time for yourself. I don’t care if you have a planner (I hope you do!) or if you’re the most organized and creative person on the planet, at some point in your engagement you will probably be emotionally overwhelmed. In order to handle this, you’ve got to know when to “say when.” Do something you like, like getting a pedicure with a friend, or reading a book! Grab a huge cup of coffee (or whatever your fancy) and zone out watching a movie! Take a NAP. Do something just for you that will make you happy and where you can recharge your batteries.

THEN, the next time you see your man, tell him how excited you are to marry him. Not that you’re excited for your wedding, that you are excited to be his wife. Its so easy for our fellas to feel unimportant or not needed in the engagement/planning process. It is also easy for engaged women to feel unsupported by their fiances because they feel like the fiance doesn’t care about the planning and the details and your latest Etsy purchase. Which, ladies let’s be honest, this really translates into you feeling like they don’t care about you or marrying you. The fellas may not understand all that you’re going through, but I know that they love you and want to be with you and are excited about marrying you, or they wouldn’t have popped the question in the first place! Take some time for you guys to be who you are together, and remind him that you’re excited about a wedding because it means you get to marry him. In turn, I would imagine, he would be delighted to talk about how excited he is about marrying you as well. Now, both of you can feel recharged about the planning and the wedding, because on that day, you will get to have that moment when you both know with all of your heart that you made it! Together. =)

Vendor Spotlight- Leslie Walker Photography

Today’s featured vendor is Leslie Walker Photography. We just adore working with Leslie….check out what she had to say about her business:

How did you get into Photography?

I was working for a marketing company in Charleston, SC and doing photography as a side business. I’ve always loved photography and being able to creatively capture moments. Unfortunately, I was laid off from my job because business was so slow but it was a blessing in disguise! It forced me to dive into photography full time and I haven’t looked back since!

What do you love about Photography?

I love capturing real moments between couples and families. If I can stand back and give my clients some space to be themselves- that’s when you capture the best images. If I can show a couple a picture of them being nothing but who they are and do it in an exciting and creative way… that’s when I’ve done my job!

What would you say is your photography style?

My style is clean and candid, bold and beautiful. I love pictures that show emotion and capture the excitement surrounding a couple’s wedding day. I love capturing details from the day in a creative way.

Do you shoot digital or film?

Tell us why brides should choose you to capture their wedding day?

Aside from the pictures I provide… I feel that one of the most important things that I give to my clients is that I’m calm during the chaos of a wedding day. I go with the flow…because you have to! I try to make the process of taking pictures as fun as possible and very relaxed. This just makes the day better for the couple and the pictures are better for it too! I really enjoy getting to know a bride & groom and their families.

Some personal questions about Leslie!

Mac or PC? Mac for sure!

Tea or Coffee? Coffee. And lots of it 🙂

iPhone or Blackberry? iPhone

Favorite song right now? I couldn’t pick just one! I am loving Ben Rector right now. Check him out:

Southern Vintage Nashville Wedding

This weeks real Nashville wedding comes from our planner Margaret Tolbert with Details by Margaret.

Here are the details from Margaret:

Susan and Jared wanted a perfect Southern Vintage Wedding. Wild flowers, antique vases, lace overlays, quilts and more it all came together for the wedding of their dreams!

Susan and Jared got married at Southall Eden in Lieper’s Fork. They married under a tree with lanterns and an antique chandelier, the moment was perfect!

Guests were seated on bales of hay covered with mix matched quilts. Capri blue, deep purple, ivory and green were brought in with the bouquets of wild flowers. When Susan walked down the aisle you could see the excitement from all the guests and Jared.

The cocktail hour was in the barn. The team at Down South Delights treated guests to southern favorites like ham and biscuits and spinach dip.

The reception was held under the stars…and string lights! Long tables lined the garden with ivory lace overlays and burlap runners. The buffet dinner was served on mix matched china.

The band, Southern Hauler, had the guests on their feet all night! Guests were offered flip flops to keep their feet rested.

As a special surprise to guests, Tin Can Treats came with their vintage trailer offering up sweet treats from the past.

What a fabulous wedding!!

Vendor Spotlight – CJ’s Off the Square

Good morning everyone! Today we are honored to feature CJ’s Off the Square as our vendor spotlight! CJ Dickson is not only the owner of CJ’s Off the Square, but is also a NWPG member! Here’s what CJ had to say about her beautiful venue in downtown Franklin, TN:

Tell us about your venue:

CJ’s Off the Square is a historic home and outdoor wedding venue specializing in garden weddings and receptions. We can comfortably accommodate up to 135 guests.

What makes your venue different from other venues?

The setting at CJ’s Off the Square is truly one of a kind. Our clients like the venue because it is intimate and romantic. We are located in a historic district with a charming Main Street, full of cute shops and restaurants as well as charming historic homes. We offer the charm of a historic setting with the beauty of the outdoors with our garden pavilion.

We also offer a full range of design options which allows every bride to really customize her look. Our staff can help with as much or as little as each bride may need to make her day perfect. We also welcome planners to bring their ideas and vision to create a one of a kind look for their clients.

What is the history of your venue?

CJ’s Off the Square opened in 2005. The house itself was build in 1910 and I purchased it in 2004 with the intention of turning it into an event space. I fell in love with the house and grounds to moment I saw it and have loved being a caretaker of this property which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

What are some of your wedding and reception options?

We offer both morning and afternoon/evening wedding packages. All of our wedding packages include exclusive use of the property, complimentary valet parking, and all tables, linens and chairs for both the ceremony and reception. We have different packages based on different levels of services and style. Our Morning Light package starts at $4995. The Classic Package, which is what most planners use for their brides, starts at $9995. Our most popular all inclusive package which includes in-house planning services starts at $14,995.

Does your venue require use of preferred vendors, or are brides free to bring in their own?

CJ’s Off the Square requires that you use our house catering service however brides are welcome to bring their own wedding cake, flowers or entertainment provided the vendors are licensed and insured.

In your opinion which event ( or type of event) has most creatively taken advantage of your venue, and what made that event a success?

Some of the most creative and unique events we have done have been weddings. Here are three of my favorite – where the clients really trusted us with their vision and we were able to completely transform the space. Food is also a big part of any event and our chef creative completely unique menus for these events which were a huge hit with both the couples and their guests.

Make sure to check our CJ’s Off the Square here for your next big event!
