Planner Tip from Premier Wed

This weeks Planner Tip comes from our lovely Planner of the Week, Dawn from Premier Wed:

“Try to keep guests at the “must haves” level in order to have a more detailed wedding that reflects your style.  The guest list sets the pace for everything from Venue location/size to rentals, linens and the flowers to cover those tables.  Keeping a lower guest count not only keeps your budget more flexible, but allows you to actually speak to everyone and remember who was there on that special night!  One of my couples was married in Africa and then had an intimate reception here in Nashville.  It was casual, but elegant and they enjoyed a lovely evening with family and dearest friends.”

totally share your love for BHLDN! But just a quick correction – their stores are in Chicago and Houston (not Dallas).

Great Blog – use it often as a resource.

Nashville Wedding Planner’s Group | January Meeting 2012

Our January Meeting was our first meeting of the year but more importantly, the first that we got to share with our awesome new members!! It turned out to be a perfect day {unusually warm and sunny for January} and we were fortunate to have some of the most amazing Nashville event professionals attend. The meeting took place at Ruby Nashville, a new venue perfect for brides that want a gorgeous, modern space for their wedding or reception. During the day the space offers a ton of natural light and can be transformed at night to give any event a cool party vibe. Angela Disrud was there to capture these images for us.

Bacon and Caviar provided a delicious lunch. They served up amazing appetizers {we’re still dreaming about the cornbread BLT’s} and a nice display of shrimp and grits. The food was seriously amazing!!

Music City Tents provided our rentals and we totally lost our planners’ attention when Janette {with MCT}  passed out their ‘Men of Music City Tents and Events’ 2012 calendar. Music City Tents has some great things happening in 2012 and we were thrilled to have Janette there to share some of their exciting plans with us!

We were also so excited to work with Rickey from Ode Florals, and I think you can see why. She has a way of creating the most beautiful whimsical, undone floral arrangements, and we love it! She also has a great collection of milk glass…how pretty are they with the colorful wildflowers?

To top it off, we had Maggie Moos share their very cool {no pun intended} ice cream display with us, complete with toppings and a cold marble slab. They can bring this set up to any event. How popular would you be with your guests if you served up everyone’s favorite dairy treat at your reception?

And lastly our lovely planners!! Can’t wait for our February meeting ladies!!

Vendor Spotlight- The Enchanted Florist

Need a little floral inspiration today? Well you’re in luck because today we are featuring the amazing work of The Enchanted Florist. We asked Caprice, the owner of The Enchanted Florist, a few questions and here’s what she had to say:

How did you get into floral design?

I helped during the summer at a florist, in high school, but years later a friend of mine owned a florist, lost his designer and asked if I could help him and I’ve been doing flowers ever since.

Explain your process of working with the bride.

I have all my brides come in for a free initial consultation. I ask them to bring pictures of things they like, just so I can get a feel for their “style”, then we sit down and start with the brides bouquet and go all the way through to the reception decor. We talk about looks, and what the bride wants her wedding day to say about her. I also give a quote, at the initial meeting.

What is your favorite flower?

Tough one… changes all the time! I love peonies, but I think it’s because my Grandmother grew them and she was such a special person in my life, that they always remind me of her.

What makes you different from other florists?

I think what makes me different is that I have the ability to custom design for each individual client. My background is in Technical Theatre, so I think of a wedding as an EVENT and I have the knowledge and skills to do both small and intimate weddings or large and over the top!

What’s one thing you love to hear in a consultation with a bride? “YOU GET ME”!!

Now some personal questions for Caprice!

Mac or PC? PC

Tea or Coffee? Neither

iPhone or Blackberry? iphone

Favorite song right now? Anything by Adele
