Vendor Spotlight: Karis Floral Design

Happy Wedding Wednesday!! It’s been a crazy week with weather in Nashville, so I am glad we are able to share these gorgeous florals from Karis Floral Design, to help brighten up our week. We spoke with the owner Sunny to share with us, some info about her business.

How did you get into floral and event design?

I was born into floral design! My grandmother and mother were florist! They both owned shops so I spent many weekends hanging out with my family at the flower shop. I often think of how my mom cut certain flowers while I’m working. After running a foster care and adoption agency for many years, flowers came back into my life. I started interning on nights and weekends, then worked closely with one of my best girlfriends in Austin and finally Karis Floral Design started! Now my heart is full of flowers and adoptions!!!!

Explain your process of working with a bride.

I LOVE to meet in person. I feel like I get a better sense of who the bride is and what her style is, in face to face interaction. After meeting and having a full understanding of her vision I put together a custom quote. The quote gives the full picture of color, flower type and accents. I utilize everything possible to make her dreams come to life; drawings, style boards, unique build outs, trips to the local vintage store and anything else you can think of. I love working with brides that are interested in creating something new and individual!

What is your favorite flower?

I have big love for all flowers! My absolute favorite is lilac. The color, the way it falls and the multiple blooms make my heart sing!! I always love a beautiful peonies, dahlia and ranunculus.

What makes you different from other florist?

There are so many talented florist in Nashville. My only hope is to make dreams comes true for every couple I work with. I believe in being knowledgeable, honest and sincere! I hope that the couples I work with know a little about my heart and love for all things beautiful!

Planner Event at Events on 3rd

This past September the planner’s group was lucky to get to spend an evening at Events on Third, a super cool venue in downtown right in the middle of Nashville’s historic Printer’s Alley. We had a great time exploring the unique spaces of this amazing building. It’s exposed brick walls, beautiful red winding staircase, gorgeous mezzanine and proximity to Nashville’s night life make it the perfect space for any event, large or small.

During our evening, we listened to the rockin’ musical stylings of the Music City Rhythm Revue, enjoyed several yummy hors d’oeuvres from U-Kno Catering and then a few planners busted a move to amazing DJ, Eli of The Hampton Agency, who also brought along a super fun photo booth for us to play with. Jazzy Nash Shoetique, a fabulous shoe boutique on wheels surprised us and showed off their inventory of trendy shoes and accessories and we also heard from Little Black Dress, a designer dress rental company, perfect for your rehearsal dinner and the other countless showers and events you attend during your engagement.

As always, we had a lovely night hanging with some of Nashville’s amazing event industry professionals. Check out these beautiful images from Lauren Athalia Photography, who was there to catch it all!

Vendor Spotlight- Vintage Florals

We are so excited to finally feature one of our favorite florist Vintage Florals. We have worked with owner Melissa on lots of events & really love the things she creates for us. Melissa recently joined with one of our planners Jessica Sloane to do a Holiday Floral Arrangement Class, look out for them to do more classes in the future.

How did you get into floral and event design? I am an accidental florist! After graduating from Belmont University in 2000 with a BA in music, I got married, and started working for a local flower wholesaler. There began my love for flowers. In 2004, when we had our first child, I began working out of our home and Vintage Florals was born. I’ve been working with brides and creating floral designs for weddings and events now for over 10 years and I am still learning and loving it!

Explain your process of working with a bride. One of the best, and my most favorite, aspects of my job is meeting with clients. My goal in a meeting is for the client to walk away with an excited sense of being cared for and understood in their vision of their wedding day. I will walk a bride through every floral detail, so that her vision for her event can come alive. I will then create a custom quote, detailing every item with individual pricing so that a client can “select all” or piece together what she needs according to her budget.

What is your favorite flower? It really depends on the season, but I love a fluffy peony or blush garden rose. Sweet, bendy ranunculus and scabiosa are some of my favorite accent flowers to work with as well.

What makes you different from other florist? There are so many talented florists in this town, so I only know what is true to me! I really try to get to the heart of what a bride wants for her wedding. I am careful to be in tune to a client as she responds to floral images that I show in the initial meeting. If her eyes light up, I know we’re onto something! Floral design is a big part of the wedding decor. It is one of the elements that truly represents the personality of the couple and helps to set the tone for the event. I’m passionate about making that happen!

What’s one thing you love to hear in consultation with a bride? ”I trust you, just do your thing!”!!!

Vendor Spotlight-Visual Elements/Quest Drape

Happy Wednesday!! Today we are featuring a Nashville Speciality Design company, Visual Elements. They have recently joined forces with Quest Drape, so that means lots more speciality decor items for your Nashville wedding.  There own Michele Harbin, Director of New Business Development was just presented with prestigious Presidents Award by her peers in the 2104 Tennessee Wedding & Event Specialists Association (TWESA).

We spoke with Sara Moggio an Event Producer for Visual Elements to tell us about their services & products.

What made you go into the business of specialty décor?

I’ve been a corporate and social planner for the past decade, however, my transition into the specialty décor business was an easy one. My love of making things pretty, connecting with clients and putting logistics together is what I enjoy the most – so why not the exciting career change? Visual Elements had been one of my favorite and go-to vendors for years and I always kept going back to them for their excellent customer service, creativity and custom products. It goes without saying, anything VE does is drool-worthy!

What are all the different ways brides can use your products?

One of my favorite ways to utilize our products is to mix and match, especially since our inventory covers such a large spectrum for any client’s event needs. Stylized drape, custom chandeliers and swanky furniture pieces are just a few of my favorite things to play around with to take the client’s vision to the next level. These days it’s all about customization and having a voice for the bride and groom. Visual Elements does just that.

  What options do you offer?

Visual Elements offers a custom, unique approach to the way we offer specialty event décor items. We take regular ideas and turn them into something extraordinary!

We recently added fun food trucks to their inventory, with 6 in various colors. What a fun idea for weddings!!

Some personal questions about Sara:

Mac or PC? Mac. I’m a sucker for anything shiny and new.

Tea or Coffee? Neither – Redbull! What can I say, it must give me that extra spunk for my clients.

Favorite Things To Do in Nashville? I just recently moved and I love exploring my new neighborhood. Whether it’s finding a new local drinking hole or fantastic boutique, Nashville is a great city with innovative entrepreneurs that make this city such a special place to call home.

Favorite Song Right Now? I’m mildly embarrassed to admit this, but Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”. It’s super upbeat and gets me going on any Monday morning!
