Planner Tip from Celebrations by Design

This weeks Planner Tip comes from Toni with Celebrations by Design:

When planning your wedding keep your guests in mind as well. Make sure you find out if there are any guests that will require any special needs (transportation, diet, entrances, etc.) and communicate those needs to your wedding vendors!

Bonus Tip: Don’t forget yourself during the planning process! Make sure you set aside some time for yourself and have some fun!

Happy Planning!

Vendor Spotlight: Courtney Davidson Photography

Happy Tuesday, fellow Wedding enthusiasts! Today we are excited to feature Courtney Davidson Photography! When we asked Courtney about her business, this is what she had to say:

How did you get into photography?

“I was originally a painting major in college. I couldn’t get into a class that I needed one semester, and so I took Photography to fill the void. I was terrible at it, but I loved it. That following January, I contracted my own interim credit to go and document Blues musicians in the Mississippi Delta and Memphis. I love blues and had studied blues music academically. My goal was to go and see the historical places I had studies, while documenting the people there who are keeping blues music alive with my camera. It was a miracle any of them came out, but I loved it! I changed my concentration to photography, and moved to NYC a year after finishing my BFA to pursue an MFA in Photography at Parsons School of Design. The rest is history!”

What do you love about photography?

“I love how being a photographer changes the way you see things. Just walking around, I am constantly seeing light and texture as if I were taking a photo.”

What would you say is your photography style?

“I am a bit of a hybrid between documentary style (I don’t say photojournalism because I think that word gets thrown around too much in our industry; I never worked for a newspaper) and editorial style photographer. I love the challenge of making the best photo I can of something that I have absolutely no control over which is where the documentary side of me shows. However, I also love having vision for something and executing it creatively, which is where the editorial side shows up.”

Do you shoot digital or film?

Digital

Tell us why brides should chose you to capture their wedding day.

“Because I am experienced, and I care. I could tell you all the experience I had shooting in NYC, all the people I have shot with, but what really counts is that I put my whole heart into shooting a wedding, and I do the best I can, every time. I put as much effort into shooting a wedding as I would want someone else to if they were shooting my wedding, which is a lot, because I have pretty high standards. :)”

Colorful Nashville Wedding from Mr. & Mrs. Weddings and Events

Today’s Real Wedding comes to us from Jennifer of Mr. & Mrs. Weddings and Events.

From Jennifer:

“This fun summer wedding had a very colorful and whimsical style to it that allowed us to work on some fun DIY projects for the reception. All the gals got together one night before the wedding to knock out about 25 white tissue paper pom poms and I loved the mason jars wrapped with various colors of yarn….which, might I just say, the groom also helped with!”

Enjoy these pictures of the gorgeous Mr. & Mrs. Britt from Meishach Moore Photographers.

A beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple!!

Very sweet!

Weekly Wedding Roundup

Happy Friday all!! We have had a wonderful week and hope you have too! The Nashville Wedding Planner’s Group had it’s 1st meeting of the year this week and we can’t wait to share images with you soon. But for now, let’s look back at the great features we had on the blog this week….boy did we have some good ones!!

We started the week off with some Real Wedding eye candy. Thanks to Elaine from Events by Elaine for sending us this sweet, rustic wedding…what a precious event!! See the full post here.

Next, we chatted with JT about one of Nashville’s hubs for all things rental, Music City Tents and Events. JT explained the many different ways brides can use their products and services. JT prides his company as being the “go-to event provider in Music City, USA! Partying is our Business!” See the full post here.

This week’s great planner tip came to us from Sara of Fete Nashville. {also this week’s fab Planner of the Week}

On planning a successful wedding: “Be yourself… don’t worry about other opinions. The most memorable weddings are less about the ‘wow’ factor of the décor and more about really getting a feel for the couple’s personality.”
One thing I wish all brides knew: “Everything is negotiable. You will find that out once you hire a great planner!”
Yesterday the blog was full of “yum” featuring Popcornopoly, Nashville’s original gourmet popcorn company. What a great product for gifts, guest baskets or as a nice treat at your reception! Check out the full post here.
That’s it for this week folks!! Have a lovely weekend and be sure to check back next week for more wedding goodness!

Vendor Spotlight: Popcornopoly

Greetings! Today we are excited to feature Popcornopoly as our vendor of the day! We were introduced to this great business and their yummy kernels last year and trust us, once you start eating, you can’t stop! Here’s what Jaclyn, one of the owners, had to say about Nashville’s original gourmet popcorn company!

What made you get into the business?

We always loved homemade caramel popcorn growing up and it was most definitely our dessert of choice 🙂 We realized that Nashville didn’t have many popcorn stores and we wanted to share our popcorn love 🙂

What different ways can brides use your product?

We have done different kinds of packaging for weddings. We have put together party favors in small portions for guests to have at their table, we’ve had a popcorn bar, that was an assortment of flavors in buffet style and we’ve provided our gift tins as thank you presents.

What different flavors do you offer?

We have seasonal/deluxe flavors that are drizzled with chocolate and we also have several flavors with nuts. These are usually the bride’s favorites 🙂 But we also have more traditional flavors such as Salted Caramel, Classic Cheddar, White Cheddar, Home-Style Kettle, Cinnamon Kettle and Butter.

Do you ship to different states?

Yes, we ship to the contiguous 48 and offer free shipping online through our website.

Now for some personal questions!

Mac or PC?

“Well Angela is a PC and I’m a Mac so we’re a divided house!”

Coffee or Tea?

“Well, I’m a singer so I always prefer tea…it’s relaxing and just makes you feel like you’re at home”

iPhone or Blackberry?

“Definitely iPhone…even though none of us have one!!”

Favorite song right now?

“Not Over You” by Gavin Degraw
