What made you go into the business of calligraphy?

I took a class in calligraphy and ended up falling in love after the first two hours of it! It became a beloved hobby and then quickly turned into a business I truly enjoy. Now I have incorporated my graphic design abilities with my calligraphy and the possibilities have become endless!

What are all the different ways brides can use your products?

The wedding invitations and save the dates are the first thing the guests will see! It gives them an idea of what your wedding will be like. Calligraphy is an elegant and timeless art that gives special attention to each guest!

What options do you offer?

I offer design for invitations, logos, stationary, menus, programs, etc. I also offer calligraphy for envelopes, place cards or anything else that needs lettering! I just recently added watercolor envelope addressing to the list as well. I am a one-stop shop for all your paper needs.

What makes this aspect of a wedding so special and unique for bride?

I customized everything exactly to her taste! Whatever she imagines for her invitations and calligraphy, I will do my best to surpass!

Some personal questions about Farris:

Mac or PC – Mac for life!

Tea or Coffee – coffee in the morning, tea at night…I can’t choose one or the other 🙂

Favorite Things To Do in Nashville – movies in Elmington park, walks around Radnor lake with my amazing husband and sweet puppy, and eating my way through all the many restaurants in town!

Favorite Song Right Now– I don’t know about my favorite, but I can’t get “Brighter Than the Sun” by Colbie Caillat out of my head!

Vendor Spotlight-Jenna Henderson Photography

Photography is a very important element on your wedding day, because after your special day is over, all you have are the memories & pictures. That’s why it’s important to choose the perfect photographer. Jenna Henderson Photography is one that we love, learn more about her services & what she provides Nashville couples.

How did you get into photography?

I got into photography as a sophomore in high school, when I saved my money to buy a “clicky” camera. I found quickly that I have a natural eye for light, so I got my degree in photography and began working full time for myself in 2007.

What do you love about photography?

I love the feelings that a photograph can evoke, no matter how many times the image is viewed. Anytime I can create an image that has emotions that resonate in such a way that the photograph doesn’t get tired or boring over time, I feel I’ve done my job well.

What would you say is your photography style?

My style is timeless yet fresh, classic yet whimsical. I am most inspired by movement, laughter, and love. My goal is to photograph just the right combination of photojournalism and posed portraits, so that in the end, my brides have an exquisite collection of images that will help them tell their story for years to come.

Do you shoot digital or film?

I consider myself a hybrid shooter, meaning I’m fully comfortable shooting both film and digital. Being able to switch easily between the two means I’m ready and able to shoot anything a wedding can throw at me using the best possible techniques, to create the best images.

Tell us why brides should choose you to capture their wedding day.

First and foremost, a bride should hire me if they’re attracted to my fresh, timeless style. Also, on a wedding day, I can work well with a number of different people and personalities and still keep things running smoothly and on time. Finally, I’m passionate about great service and tangible, hold-in-your-hands photos in the form of classic albums and frames that perfectly compliment my images; it’s my goal to make sure the photography experience doesn’t end with the wedding, but rather when the photos are on display in my clients’ daily lives.

Vendor Spotlight- Rosemary & Finch

It’s July & knee deep in wedding season! We are so happy to finally feature Mary Love owner of Rosemary & Finch. She creates some amazing floral arrangements for lots of Nashville brides. Keep reading to learn more about her company!

How did you get into floral and event design?

After studying painting at Belmont University, I knew I wanted to do something artistic and work with my hands. On a whim, I asked my sister’s wedding florist for an internship and it all snowballed from there. I worked for other florists for a while and slowly built up my own business before taking the leap and becoming self-employed full time in 2013.

Explain your process of working with a bride.

I truly believe that every single wedding is unique so I work really hard to specialize every wedding to reflect the bride and groom’s distinct taste. People always ask me if I hate Pinterest, but I actually really love getting to scroll through all these different pictures that have caught the bride’s eye. After meeting with a bride and getting acquainted with her vision, I create a custom quote based on her inspiration photos and Pinterest boards. It’s so fun to develop each wedding into something completely tailored to the bride and groom!

What is your favorite flower?

Oh, what a hard question for a floral designer! I love, love, love textured, lush arrangements so I tend to like more unusual flowers like king protea and scabiosa. I’m also always a sucker for any kind of David Austin garden rose!

What makes you different from other florists?

I think my love of texture and variety is what makes my work unique. I love mixing lots and lots of different florals and botanicals to create the perfect color palette.

Details & Pre-Ceremony-110

What’s one thing you love to hear in consultation with a bride?

It’s rare, but I totally love it when the groom actually has opinion about the flowers. I find it so interesting to hear what a guy has to say about flowers, one of the most feminine aspects of wedding planning!

Vendor Spotlight- The Golden Band

The Golden Band was founded by singer-songwriters, Brittany Hadley and Dan Storm, and is led by the vocal duo. We perform classic wedding songs and cover songs from various genres in several different styles.

Explain your music style at weddings.

Our style is your style. Our band is fronted by our male/female vocal duo, but every other member of the band is interchangeable depending on what style of music the client is looking for. So, if a client wants bluegrass, the band will include a banjo, acoustic guitar, upright bass and a fiddle player. If a client wants classic rock, the band will include electric guitarists, a drummer, bass player and a keyboard player. Because we don’t have a set band roster, we can be flexible in helping our clients create the perfect band to fit their specific vision. For past clients we have played pop, rock, bluegrass, country and almost everything in between.

How do you handle music selections for weddings?

We want our clients to absolutely love their wedding music, so we encourage each bride and groom to handpick their songs! We have a repertoire of about 80 songs that we call our “House Playlist.” Clients can pick and choose songs from that list OR choose an entirely unique playlist of songs that are important and meaningful to them. Past clients have asked us to learn songs from Jack White, James Taylor, The Backstreet Boys and many more artists. We also have a unique songwriting service, where we have even written personalized songs for first dances, daddy daughter dances and as special bride/groom gifts.

How many musicians will be in the band?

As we mentioned before, our band changes depending on the wants and needs of our clients. We can provide anything from acoustic/vocal cocktail music to high energy dance bands. We provide each client with a customized quote, calculated based on how many band members they are interested in and for how many hours. This allows us to be flexible with our clients in accommodating any budget!

Explain your process while working with a bride.

Every wedding we participate in is unique. No two band rosters are the same. No two playlists are the same. We rely on our brides to provide us with their unique vision for their wedding music and we make that vision a reality. We pride ourselves on being very hands on and accessible. We walk each bride through every step from first dance to last song to make sure she loves what she hears on her big day.

Check out these videos of their performances here!
