Vendor Spotlight: The Clean Plate Club

Today we are so happy to feature a true legend in the Nashville catering world, The Clean Plate Club. They have been around for ages & we are glad to finally feature them.

How did you get into catering?

Our founder, Monica Holmes, first entered the food and beverage world by catering for production crews in the Nashville area, and, soon after, founded The Clean Plate Club (1980). Monica’s ‘big break,’ as she likes to call it, occurred when she was asked to cater Naomi Judd’s wedding reception. From there, her business took off!

Monica’s passion for the culinary industry inspired her son, Chris Holmes, to attend culinary school and eventually join The Clean Plate Club as co-owner. The Clean Plate Club has had numerous locations around Nashville since its inception – from Thompson Lane to 12 South, we’re now located in the trendy Wedgewood-Houston area.

 

What are some different options for catering that you offer brides?

Our culinary team has extensive experience catering events for weddings – from rehearsal dinners to bridal luncheons to receptions. In terms of catering options, we have done all types of service styles, including seated plated, buffets, action stations, and the list goes on. Whether a bride’s event offers fine dining or fried chicken, our team’s passion for excellence and perfection will make the special occasion truly memorable!

What are some new things you are working on for 2017?

One of our main goals for next year is to explore new ways to build upon the traditional ‘southern’ recipes by incorporating or fusing new flavors. We also plan to make more of our own cured meats and ‘in-house’ smoked meats that can be paired with local whiskey, wines, spreads, mustards, and jellies.

What are you seeing that is popular in catering in 2017?

The Nashville/southern cuisine trend will likely continue the next couple of years, which includes the infamous Nashville Hot Chicken, as well as cured meats paired with local jams, and more of the traditional southern sides and entrées.

We feel that, given consumers’ expanding palettes; there will be an increasing interest and demand for highly creative and complex menus – in which we are thrilled and prepared to take on!

To be completely candid, we want Nashville Hot Chicken to go!

Vendor Spotlight- Project Belle Nashville

We recently had the pleasure of working with Project Belle, as they are a great service to brides or anyone. They are able to send a yoga instructor to your hotel if you decide that you need to work on your chakra before your wedding or a bridesmaid missed her spray tan appt. & still needs one, Project Belle can help. We spoke with Carlin that handles Operations to tell us more about the company.

What made you go into the business of ……?

The founder of Belle, Armand Lauzon, has a cousin who is a manicurist. While spending time with her, she explained that Professionals in her industry forfeit anywhere between 50% to 85% of the revenue they generate to a salon or spa to pay for rent, utilities, marketing, etc. Manicurists also need to abide by strict shift schedules where they ultimately waste time waiting for appointments to walk through the door. Armand knew that technology could improve Professionals’ compensation, save them time, create flexibility and best of all – bring Clients a new type of service with superior convenience.

Belle brings beauty and wellness services to Clients, hassle-free. Massage, hair, nails, makeup, skin care, fashion and fitness wherever they are, including their homes, offices and hotels. You name it. We’re there. All payments are digital and include tip, so every experience is simple and convenient.

Vendor Spotlight: GranDale Manor

We love when new venues come onto the scene in Nashville, we run over to view it. We are happy to feature this new venue GranDale Manor, a gorgeous historic restored venue perfect for small Nashville weddings. Event Manger, Emily tell us more about the venue.

Tell us about your venue.

GranDale Manor is a historical and intimate setting for a range of events. Built in 1859, the home was a hospital during the Civil War and part of the Underground Railroad. It is Greek Revival Architecture, restored in 2011 keeping the original hardwoods, fireplace & front porch columns.

What makes your venue different from other venues?

We are convenient…accommodating…affordable…but GLAMOROUS with chandeliers and crown moulding in every room! PLUS, we include tables and chairs for 100 guests in our rental cost!

What is the history of your venue? (How did it get started, etc.)

Originally built in 1859, GranDale Manor had been sitting vacant in the 2000s before the Waynick family bought the property and restored the home in 2011. The family houses their law offices on the 2nd floor.

As mentioned before, it was a hospital during the Civil War and part of the Underground Railroad!

What are some of your wedding and reception options?

Inside the home, we fit 100 seated guests or 150 cocktail style guests. Because of the rooms, we can fit a 50 person ceremony comfortably.

Outside the home on our 8 acres, we can have up to 300 guests. Place your ceremony on our front porch or front lawn OR use the woods in the backyard for more of a green backdrop! Our prices are so competitive that there is room for a large tent in our backyard for your reception. Place the dance band on the deck and have a fun night!

Does your venue require use of your preferred vendors, or are brides free to bring their own?

At the current moment, we are completely open to all licensed vendors – no preferred/respected list just yet, but we are building wonderful vendor relationships along the way!

In your opinion, which event (or type of event) has most creatively taken advantage of your venue, and what made that event a success?

We love to host holiday parties and we can fit 150 guests in a cocktail style setting inside the home and already have six cocktail tables available for use. With our attached deck on the back side, it is so easy to create a mix and mingle setting inside the home and encourage some dancing on the deck!

Vendor Spotlight: Feather + Oak Lifestyle Rentals

This week we got with Jennifer of {feather + oak} prop styling lifestyle rentals to tell us about her company & services that she offers Nashville brides.

What made you go into the business of event rentals?

I love creating beautiful gatherings and part of doing so is setting the atmosphere that makes an event feel special. Details – such as a magnificent floral vessel that beautifully supports a floral artist’s work or the simplicity of wood handled Civil War era flatware – set the tone for an event. I often refer to my inventory as lifestyle rentals because these details support making a gathering, big or small, memorable.

What type of rentals do you offer?

Clients come to me for focal points. Items that spotlight a ceremony such as rugs or 100+ brass candlesticks // dessert tables that feature rare, antique cake stands // unique floral vessels for welcome tables or other vignettes // background items such as trays in brass, silver, wood, copper, and bronze for detail captures with regards to bouquets, boutonnières, and paper suites.

Explain the process of working with a bride.

The question I ask every client, bride or not, is how do they want their event to feel? From there we take those descriptives and carefully hand select items that support their vision.

What are the different ways brides can use your products?

I love to dream new life for old things. One of my favorite details for the fall season is my collection of vintage thermoses. While most of them are in fine shape for their intended purpose, they also make adorable floral vessels; perfect for an autumn themed head table or for welcome and dessert vignettes. For winter gatherings we have a gorgeous antique sleigh carriage that is a spectacular statement piece filled with florals. And lastly our collection of carnival glass punch bowls make for a delightful drinks display. We like to pair them with simple clear glassware for a contemporary twist and let the punch bowls have all the attention.
